Where Reality Meets Creative Expression

and re-imagining it.

About My Work

While my early professional work was rooted in reality, my path to photography began with discovering the surrealists Jerry Uelsmann and Duane Michaels.  Over the years I’ve moved between literally portraying people, places and things, and more interpretive image making through the use of infrared lenses, multiple exposures, and the slicing and recombining of prints into new images.  As I continue to make impressionistic works, I am simultaneously beginning a documentary series about the people and places of my newest hometown.  What unites all my work is a desire to seek and share moments of whimsy, beauty and calm appreciation.

About My Work

In recent years, I’ve moved from the literal capturing of places and things toward more interpretive image making.
While I still appreciate a striking city skyline or a delicate floral, I feel freer to portray them as I see them, and not necessarily exactly as they are.
